The ring is missing in Forza 5? Holy crap! I think the XBox One and FM5 are off my want list now...

For there to never be DLC again, at least paid.

I don't really game. in the last 7 years I have bought:

Battlefield 3 for PC

Xbox 360

Forza 4.

I am disgusted that as soon as I installed BF3 (A brand new game at the time) I started hearing about a paid for map pack, and new weapons. I bought it because the game is awesome... But then there was another one soon after and I was done buying mini-expansions...

Then I bought my 360 and Forza 4 (Late to the party) and as soon as I started playing I saw tons of pay for DLC.

I don't want subscription gaming, and I don't want to pay to play for individual cars / tracks for the entire time I play a game.

And if brands like Porsche insist on charging more in licence fees than any other manufacturer, or more than Turn10 thinks makes financial sense... Then screw Porsche. Let them lose out on the free marketing and possibly future sales. Porsche, your cars aren't worth an additional 10% of what I paid to play Forza.

It's not Porsche. It's EA, who own the exclusive license to Porsche.

EA are assholes and won't let anyone else play with their toys. Porsche is fucking stupid for letting EA be a bully and charge ridiculous fees for their IP. EA doesn't even use it.

Rivals has what, like 2 new Porsches in it. Meanwhile Turn10 would love to be able to scan all the awesome old Porsche racecars, amazing vintage machines, and generally everything else that's made Porsche into the world-renowned brand they are today.

The ring isn't in 5 because they ran out of time to finish rebuilding it.

If you click on my name, and search for Forza 5, I have written at length about the failings of the game.

Don't get me wrong, it's still very good, and shows immense potential. But on can clearly tell it was rushed to make launch day, and the missing content it most blatant sign.

I would expect that within the next 6 months they will have the Ring available as DLC. Yes it sucks they are making people pay for it. But, I am treating Forza 5 like Forza 6 beta. All those who adopt early are paying for those who wait it out until they have the time and money to finish building their models to be good enough for the extra power the XBone can offer.

If its EA... Even better. Don't pay them either! They ruin nearly everything they touch. I can't even enjoy Sim City or C&C with what they have done to the franchises.

If its not really finished I have no interest then.

I won't do the paid DLC unless there is a damn good reason.

And although I do think Forza is the better game, GT6 sounds like the better choice. More environments, more race types... I really miss rally races for example, or snow courses (Sega GT I think it was...?)

I'd rather have more and more mixed course than anything else, I think thats where the most challenge / fun is. But... meh, might be FM4 time soon.

Gt6 is even less finished... They have ported cars from the ps2... Fm5 has a standard level of detail they live up to. The ring wasm't up to their standards, so they cut it for the time being.

You do realize that FM4 does not have anything other than track racing, right?

If you want surface variety, you can try Horizon, but it's not quite the same. Much more 'arcade-racing' type physics. There is a Rally expansion DLC that I hear is very good.

As Joe said, they cut what wasn't up to their standards in order to make the game have the same quality throughout. You can tell they had the right idea, as it's a truly gorgeous game.

But, there are places where you can clearly see they had to make deadline, and were not able to continue refining models/textures, etc.

If you were going to get an XBone anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend FM5. But if 5 was the only reason to get the box, I would wait and see what DLC they offer and if they patch the game at all later.

I'm giving them 6 months before I make a decision.

I have FM4 and I love it. But I really wish it had mixed tracks.

Horizon - I really don't want anything more arcade-like.

And the only reason I would buy an XBox One is Forza. Or a PS4 for GT6... and the only reason I have my 360 is Forza.

And I can understand making a deadline. I am also a huge fan of Microsoft. But if the deadline means not finishing the game in order to help MS ship a few more XBO for launch then I am not happy with the product. I don't really like DLC in the first place, but with the threat of it being more DLC than content and possibly paying more for DLC than the game... I would be completely turned off.

I understand I am very much a niche market, and Turn10 probably doesn't care about the handful of guys like me. But I am used to it, I seem to fall into a strange niche for everything I purchase.

No, I'm with you on DLC. I think it's terrible and that developers are hiding behind it as a crutch for being lazy about content. (That isn't to say they don't work hard. But there is the push to either add way too much in a game, and whatever doesn't make it to pressing, gets released as DLC, or the publisher is purposefully restricting content behind the DLC paywall just to grab more money.)

It's just really frustrating for someone like myself, who has spent money on all the DLC for FM4, to see more than half the same content gone from the new game. And when it's released as paid DLC it's more like a slap in the face.

If they are going to move to this DLC model, then it should only be new content.
